Why Are There Two Measurement Systems?
Most of the world uses the metric system (meters, kilograms, liters). The United States uses US customary units (feet, pounds, gallons). The UK uses a mix of metric and imperial (stone for body weight, miles for roads, but meters for most everything else). This converter handles all three — metric, US customary, and imperial — so you can switch between them without doing mental math.
Metric units are based on powers of 10, which makes conversion easy: 1 kilometer = 1,000 meters, 1 kilogram = 1,000 grams, 1 liter = 1,000 milliliters.
