Privacy Policy & Cookie Disclosures
At calc84.app, we believe your educational work should remain private, while still being able to offer a robust, free tool. We separate your mathematical data (which stays strictly local on your device) from website analytics and advertising data (which helps us keep the servers running). This document explains exactly what information is collected, how cookies are used for advertising, and your rights regarding this data.
✅ Math stays on your device – Calculations happen locally; we never see your equations.
✅ No account required – Use the calculator instantly without providing a name or email.
✅ Advertising & Cookies – We use standard third-party cookies (like Google AdSense) to serve personalized ads to keep the site free.
✅ You control local data – Clear your math history and settings anytime with one button.
1. How Your Math Data Is Handled (Local-First)
When you graph a function, solve a matrix, or write a TI‑BASIC program, every operation is executed by your device's browser engine (JavaScript / WebAssembly). Your equations, variables, assignments, and results are never sent to or stored on our servers. This ensures that no teacher, administrator, or third party can access your mathematical work.
Exception: The optional AI Math Solver requires sending your specific prompt over an encrypted connection to our AI provider (Groq) to generate a response. We do not store these queries or tie them to your identity.
2. Advertising, Cookies, and Third-Party Vendors
To keep Calc84 free for students globally, we rely on advertising revenue. We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website.
Google AdSense and the DoubleClick Cookie
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology in their respective advertisements and links that appear on Calc84 and which are sent directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. Other technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons) may also be used by our site's third-party ad networks to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on the site.
Calc84 has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.
3. Log Files and Website Analytics
Like many other websites, Calc84 makes use of log files and analytics software (Google Analytics 4). The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, type of browser, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
4. Local Storage (Your Device Only)
To give you a seamless calculator experience without requiring an account, we save your settings and work exclusively in your browser’s local storage.
- Calculation History & Variables: Previous inputs, A-Z variables, and L1-L6 lists.
- Programs: Any TI‑BASIC code you write.
- Preferences: Theme (Dark/Light/Solar) and angle modes.
Your Control: You can delete all locally stored calculator data at any time by clicking the button below.
5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Calc84 is built for students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Because our math processing is strictly client-side and we do not require user accounts, students can use our tools without submitting personal identifiers to us. If a parent or guardian believes that Calc84 has personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 13 in its database, please contact us immediately and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
6. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA & GDPR)
Depending on your location, you may have specific rights regarding your data:
- Right to Access & Portability: You can request copies of your personal data.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- Right to Opt-Out of the Sale of Personal Information (CCPA): We do not sell your personal data to third parties. However, the use of advertising cookies may be considered a "sale" under certain state laws. You can opt out of personalized ads via the links provided in Section 2.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
